Sandisk Professional G-Drive rugged external 2TB SSD

Recovery Sandisk G-Drive SSD

The Sandisk Professional G-Drive rugged external 2TB SSD is a quality product that combines durability with high speed transfers. The 2TB Sandisk Professional G-Drive (SDPS11A-002T-GBANB offers improvements in inherent features of SSD technology – speed, reliability, power consumption, and size.

The SSD has industrial-focused design – a mixture of soft rubber - to cushion drops - and metal (aluminum) to reinforce the core and act as a heat dissipation conduit. The drive’s size and weight (95 x 50 x 15mm, 90g) mean that it’s small enough to carry it in a jean’s pocket. Design wise, it’s worth noting that the Sandisk Professional G-Drive has a Type-C connector (3.2 Gen 2) and a status LED. There is no software bundled with it, but users can download software for password-enabled 256-bit AES-XTS hardware encryption. The SSD drive offers IP67 water and dust resistance as well, and according to Western Digital, it comes with up to 3-meter drop protection and crush resistance of up to 900Kg.

The G-Drive has a SuperSpeed USB 10Gbps (USB 3.2 Gen 2) that offers a maximum theoretical speed of 1.25GBps. Once you account for overheads, you can expect speeds of 1GBps, and WD stated that transfer speeds can be up to 1.05GBps.

That’s about twice what you’d get from a SATA-based device, making the Sandisk Professional G-Drive great for quickly editing and saving large source files, such as images (RAW photos) or videos (4K footage), and a potential complement to cloud backup as part of a 3-2-1 backup strategy.

Given that the drive is HFS+ formatted out of the box, you will have to reformat the G-Drive to use it with Windows 10. The 2TB Sandisk Professional G-Drive comes with a five year warranty. If you use a data recovery service, you won’t void an otherwise valid limited warranty as long as you get a written verification from the service provider.

The Sandisk Professional G-Drive rugged external 2TB SSD is not the fastest external drive around, but it’s a good option if you need to data to be physically secured 100% of the time. Still, these drives may also fall victim to physical and logical SSD failures, just like any other storage media. If that happens, ACE Data Recovery team will gladly help the Sandisk Professional G-Drive rugged external 2TB SSD owners with their data recovery needs.
