Crucial P3 SSD NVMe as Secondary SSD

Data recovery SSD Crucial

The Crucial P3 is an internal PCI Express 3.0 NVMe solid-state drive. The SSD is the PCIe 3.0 sibling of the P3 Plus that uses the same Phison E21T controller and is similarly paired with Micron’s 176-layer QLC flash. Like the P3 Plus, the P3 SSD is surprisingly performant and efficient.

The Crucial P3 SSD is available at 500GB, 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB capacities. The quoted performance of the P3 SSD is 3,500MB/s reads, and 3,000MB/s writes. But as is common with QLC drives, the smallest capacity is not ideal only offering sequential writing at 1,900MB/s. The Crucial P3 SSD reaches peak sequential performance at 1TB. The 2TB and 4TB models are the most enticing as this is likely to be a secondary drive for storage or games. The smaller capacity options are still nice to have for a budget build or upgrade.

Crucial offers an opportunity to download software on its site to make using the P3 SSDs more comfortable. The Crucial Storage Executive acts as an SSD “toolbox” which includes pertinent information about the drive and its health, plus auxiliary functions to help maintain the drive. Crucial also links to Acronis True Image for Crucial which is useful if you need to clone or backup a drive when installing the P3. One thing the P3 lacks is the gold-standard 256-bit AES hardware-based encryption.

The Crucial P3 SSDs can’t reach the same heights as the P3 Plus, but they are a bit cheaper and will be more efficient in some cases. Against their PCIe 3.0 rivals, the P3 SSDs offer “good enough” performance that is bound to make these drives a popular budget choice. But unfortunately, the Crucial P3 SSDs are also vulnerable to some defects, including abrupt power loss, magnetic fields and electric charges as SDDs produced by other manufacturers. That can cause failures that lead to a data loss.

Then the owners of the broken Crucial P3 SSDs will need to contact a professional data recovery services provider to get their data back. ACE Data Recovery is the only company that develops its own in-house proprietary hardware and software specifically to recover HDD and SSD drives. ACEs are ready to help the Crucial P3 SSD owners with their data recovery needs.
