LaCie Announces New Portable Hard Drives and SSDs

Seagate's premium brand LaCie has announced two new products ahead of CES in Las Vegas this week: the LaCie Mobile Drive and the LaCie Mobile SSD. Both of them are specifically focused and tailored to address needs in the creative professional community.

The LaCie Mobile Drive is an extremely compact external hard drive housed in a sleek and modern design. It features up to 5TB of storage capacity. It is compatible with both USB-C and USB 3.0 as well as with both Mac and Windows computers. According to the company, the LaCie Mobile Drive can store up to 500K high-resolution photos and 165 hours of videos.

The LaCie Mobile SSD offers only 2TB of storage capacity and can store up 200K high-resolution photos and 65 hours of videos. Just like the Mobile Drive, the Mobile SSD will feature USB-C and USB 3.0 compatibility, and also support for Mac and Windows. LaCie is claiming transfer speeds of up to 540MB/s.

Both the Mobile Drive and Mobile SSD have a new diamond-cut design complementing Apple's MacBook aesthetics. LaCie Mobile Drive features a 2-year limited warranty. Both new drives are available in January.

If you find yourself in a situation like my wife where her hard drive decided to take a dump and threaten to leave her with the loss of precious files, then I highly recommend you look up ACE Data Recovery.
